Sometimes don’t you wish you could edit code within your WordPress site directly, not just the theme & plugin files, using an IDE style editor with advanced features. Using a separate editor the risk is reduced and if you need to tweak the wp-config.php or .htaccess files or other files not covered by WordPress editors you can.
This plugin allows you to quickly install a code editor on the WordPress install path and secures it, without any fuss, and you can remove it as quickly as you installed it. It is as simple as using a plugin. In addition, the plugin will add a layer of security if you are not using it on a localhost.
The code editor is ICEcoder, a browser based code editor, providing a convenient approach to building websites. You only need one a browser to develop websites, online or offline, and you can test on live web servers. When development is complete and the site released, you can maintain the website easily.
ICEcoder has many features, such as file backups on save which you can compare revision and restore at a click, important for on the fly changes that may break your site. ICEcoder can also be link to GitHub and to servers via FTP too.
ICEcoder is a MIT licenced free web based IDE. You may ask, if ICE is free then why are you charging me for this plugin? ( even though it is a very modest amount). Simply put, I have no relationship with ICEcoder and as their code is not written using WordPress functions it isn’t possible to host this plugin on WordPress.org repository. The fee is to cover the costs associated with me hosting and distributing the code and also maintaining plugin so that it keeps inline with both ICEcoder and WordPress release.
You can of course, install & secure your own copy of ICEcoder, but as time is money, this plugin should pay for itself many times over for a developer handling or supporting multiple WordPress sites, simply in the time and aggravation saved.

Naturally the product ICEcoder is not mine, so please don’t look to me for support with the actual IDE, but you can raise issues with the developers here https://github.com/icecoder/ICEcoder/issues
